Love, Love, Love - The Mountain Goats
pensive
An unshakable veil, distance. No matter how much I may claw at it, the shroud never lifts from these miles. I want in. No matter how much, or how little – I stand over you with a pepper grinder; just tell me when. No pepper for you? No problem! I have on this cart a selection from which you can choose, whichever flavors you desire, in whatever amounts you find palatable… salt shaker, cheese grater, or shaved truffles ($14 a gram). Your choice does not need to come with so steep a price, though everything undoubtedly comes at a cost. Anyone will tell you, though, that cost is only what you pay; value is what you receive. Tell me you find no value in us, and I would go, but I would call you a liar. We do not need to be, as we historically have been, at cross-purposes – not anymore – even though I represent justice and you are a fugitive of the law. Which law? Take your pick – the law of reason, law of attraction, and the law of nature… your own nature. And maybe it would make a little more sense if you strained a little less to understand it. Ours is not to reason why; Ours is but to do or die. But should we do, and possibly even should we die… then we shall see each other face to face.
