They are wild, chasing stones

listening Wild Once - Laura Marling

mood anxious

There is weight, bearing down, pinning me under gravity's heel. Unforgiving, yes, but not unrelenting at least. This melody gets me every time, sweeps me off my feet and slings me skyward in an explosive mimicry of a Beluga's blowhole. It makes for a bit of a rough landing, admittedly, but what goes up must come down... any junkie can tell you that. So to terra firma my feet faithfully return after each trip aloft, where I face with adult austerity the price of the pavement just beneath (where propriety would have them permanently remain).

Still, our flip-flops need not remain glued to the earth without interruption. Climb aboard the Airborne Express! These unusual aerial jaunts may intimidate a beginner — or an advanced player out of practice — at first glance, but no one said you had to strap yourself to a para-glider on your first day. Start you; start "simple." Rock back and forth on your heels a bit before you kick 'em up. How high matters less than the jump itself, because all that matters is that you get off the ground at all. Everyone knows the floor is lava, and extended stays are bound to result in a lost limb or two, so why not say farewell to landlocked life? It's hard if you can't change it. It's worse if you don't try.
