Bravo pour le clown - Édith Piaf
drained
What would make a worthwhile endeavor today, as the afternoon transitions into evening, and while sunlight still spills over my humble fraction of the Earth? Seen to are the day's barest of necessities: those hours slated for heart rates elevated from a jaunt on the elliptical, a core-crunching atop the mat, a stroll across the endless belt of the treadmill, and several sets of lifting dumbbells so my biceps can get buff while watching Buffy. At their roots, these tasks demand less physical strength than mental, yet it is all but guaranteed that the former grows as the latter weakens... from one day to the next, my only "life goal" is simply to beat the hourglass and hope something of merit can be accomplished before that final grain of motivation bids me adieu. My fingers are still poking their way over the keyboard, so it would seem that today's glass does not stand empty just yet, but it is about as far as it can get from full. Energy wanes, wistfulness waxes, and it will not be long now. But before I go, before I recede into some video game or television-induced trance, I pour out just a bit more of my heart to you, one arterial spurt at a time.
