Cabin fever, but more than the standard meaning conveys.
Yes, the claustrophobia and anxiousness to escape these shrinking walls are certainly part of the declaration, but allow me to focus on their counterpart today. Because as seemingly all others on this planet dream of an end to their isolations, I pray for mine to begin. You see, I have a fever... and the only prescription is more cabin.
Just not this one — rather, a remote chalet stowed away in a wood, only the creaky floorboards to keep me company.
If there’s one thing that I long for, it’s a forceful removal from care, it’s a paid vacation to nowhere, it’s a two month excursion where I have no contact whatsoever.
No basket of amenities for me, though. Let me live off the land, lean from scarcity and perhaps a periodic rabbit stew while you swell from an abundance of liquor and candy. Idleness? Well, that has always been your wheelhouse. But for me, a life of luxury has never been in the cards. Yours truly? Well, I was practically designed to lead a life of longing.
