It starts with genesis. A reprehensible antecedent, brimming with lunacy and driven by ravenous need.

Insert this volatile creature into a cramped colony, and you have a recipe for mayhem. Give her a community, and watch the calamity ensue.

All she requires is a catalyst, an opportunity that allows her to begin spreading her venom. Artful in her selection, she sinks her teeth and claws into the core of the hive mind. And so slowly but surely, one person at a time, the collective is contaminated.

Colonists turn rabid, feeding off one another's mounting mania, fueled by the feverish frenzy that consumes them all. Their sire, the plague-bearing megalomaniac, incites them to attack.

Toward the lucid the tractable zombies shuffle, arms reaching out, clawing, thrashing, frothing at the mouth.

He climbs as quickly as he can manage, but they storm the wall, pooling at the bottom, bodies writhing about as a termagant ocean. Numbers strengthen them; shared delirium drives them on. One climbs onto another, another climbs onto the first.

His companions, armed with level heads, attempt his rescue, toppling one or two of the monsters on the living ladder, but it is to no avail. Sense escapes these creatures, and they blindly upright themselves and ascend unerringly in pursuit.

Time is running out for the one they're after, and their wails have attempted to rally even more to their cause. Their cries have reached the ears of one under my charge.

However, he will not become a part of their ladder. I have the antidote for this disease. He will do nothing more than provide me with the path to reach this ambush.

I am coming, sword in hand, and I will tear you down with the twist I bring.
